Cover LetterDate: 10/06/2026 | Type of Job: Entry Level Software Developer
Hello, I am applying for this position because I have skills in C++ and Python and I am interested in your open source software on making energy more profitable. I am qualified for this job because I have experience working on an open-source project and making meaningful contributions, such as rate testing CUE validations on software that helps companies track and store their energy usage.
I learned of your opening through Indeed.com and I cross-referenced the job through your open-source maintainer Huss. I have worked on this open-source project and I know the codebase pretty well, which is why I would be a good candidate since I have direct experience with your company already and the maintainers.
Outside of your open-source project base, I have done other open-source projects. I am passionate about how we can make energy safer and I believe your technology is on the road to perfecting that, so I would like to contribute my skills to making that happen. My overall goal in the future is to become a maintainer of the CUE code base and continue to make your software more efficient and useful to our economy and environment. Thank you for reading my letter and please reach out to me for any questions.

Resume
ReflectionGoing over job positions for an entry-level developer made me realize what hirers are looking for and how I can better tailor my resume for them.
Throughout the process, I felt a bit defeated on how many entry-level jobs for my career want seasoned and experienced people without allowing the newly educated to enhance their skills and bring new things to the innovative technological world. I also felt a bit of hope because there were a lot of job listings despite the job deficit.
